  • TECHNOLOGY OFFICE

As part of our accelerator product line development, we seek an experienced professional to lead the design and optimization of PCB layouts, chassis integration, and cooling solutions, ensuring exceptional performance and efficiency in demanding environments.

About Openchip’s Technology Office:

The technology office team is responsible for driving technological innovation and aligning the company’s technical strategy with business objectives. We oversee research and development (R&D) of next-generation architectures, manage collaborations with foundries and ecosystem partners, and ensure efficient execution of the technology roadmap. The team also monitors emerging trends, explores experimental technologies, and leads efforts in process node advancements. Additionally, we set technical standards, guide cross-functional teams, and promote talent development while ensuring products are optimized for market needs, sustainability, and regulatory compliance, positioning Openchip as a technology leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize printed circuit boards (PCBs) for high-performance accelerator systems, including high-speed signal integrity and power delivery.
  • Architect chassis solutions, focusing on structural integrity, thermal management, and integration with system enclosures.
  • Develop and implement advanced cooling strategies, including air, liquid, and hybrid cooling systems, tailored to high-power accelerator products.
  • Collaborate with silicon, packaging, and system teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware at the board and chassis level.
  • Conduct thermal and mechanical simulations to validate designs and ensure system reliability under various operating conditions.
  • Define and enforce design guidelines, including compliance with EMI/EMC, safety, and industry standards.
  • Oversee prototype development and validation, including testing for thermal, mechanical, and electrical performance.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies in PCB materials, chassis design, and cooling to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional team members.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • PCB Design Expertise: Extensive experience with high-speed PCB layout, signal integrity, power integrity, and design tools such as Altium, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Graphics.
  • Thermal Management Knowledge: Deep understanding of heat dissipation techniques, including heat sink design, liquid cooling systems, and thermal interface materials.
  • Mechanical Design Proficiency: Expertise in chassis design using CAD tools like SolidWorks or CATIA, with a focus on manufacturability and system integration.
  • Material Science Insight: Knowledge of advanced materials for PCBs, chassis, and cooling systems, including their thermal and mechanical properties.
  • EMI/EMC Compliance: Experience ensuring electromagnetic compatibility and compliance with relevant standards.
  • System-Level Integration: Strong background in integrating PCBs and chassis into complete systems, considering both mechanical and thermal constraints.
  • Simulation and Modeling: Proficiency in tools for thermal and mechanical simulation (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL, Icepak).
  • Power and Grounding Design: Experience with high-current power delivery networks, grounding strategies, and decoupling techniques.
  • Industry Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with industry standards such as IPC, JEDEC, and ASME related to PCB and chassis design.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and drive complex projects to completion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience designing for AI/ML, HPC, or data center environments.
  • Knowledge of reliability testing and lifecycle considerations for PCBs and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with modular chassis systems and rack-mounted designs.
