The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Program Management leader to manage the multi-geo team of Openchip Program Managers, overseeing the planning, execution, control and delivery of our hardware, software and systems programs. The program portfolio covers hardware and software technologies, and their integration into products for data centre, high performance compute, cloud and edge deployments.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in leading program management teams, and enjoy the hands-on nature of a fast-moving tech startup. You will be equally comfortable directing the team and driving programs yourself. You will be motivated to solve problems, lead from the front, collaborate deeply with a broad range of stakeholders and communicate transparently on behalf of the team.
From a technical perspective, you will have an understanding of semiconductor and software technologies, and experience in driving the execution of full-stack system integration programs. You will help us build products and platforms that use the full potential of our unique hardware and software stack that will be at the heart of datacenters, on-prem infrastructures and edge. Our aim is to build platforms that are open, future-proof and able to support a wide variety of workloads.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, driving execution across disciplines to ensure programs are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with business goals. You will use your strong communication skills to drive timely resolution of program risks, issues and changes, and articulate clear and accurate status to internal and external stakeholders.
You will also help drive the growth and development of the program management function within Openchip: defining repeatable processes and communications practices, mentoring team members, aligning stakeholders on program roles and responsibilities. You will work with the chief product officer and the program management team to establish and drive the Program Management Office within Openchip.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the team of program managers covering hardware, software and system integration programs supporting AI, HPC and edge applications. Hire program managers to fill critical gaps in our program coverage
- Establish and own Openchip’s Program Management Office – define the operating models, communications standards, role definitions and collaborations with the rest of the Openchip team.
- With the program management team, manage programs from initiation through to support in the market: bringing cross-functional teams together, ensuring alignment on program objectives, roles & responsibilities, deliverables, timelines. Be the team’s driving force
- Communicate to senior management in a timely manner the overall program execution status, risks, escalations. Ensure transparency and speed in communications at project, program and portfolio level
- Drive program teams to develop program plans, milestones, and resource allocations to ensure successful program execution within budget
- Collaborate with product management, engineering, architecture and marketing teams to define program requirements and deliverables
- Set in place the systems to monitor program progress, identify risks, and implement pre-emptive and reactive mitigation strategies
- Foster a collaborative team environment and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Drive growth and development of the program management function within Openchip
- Define the infrastructure needs for program success, including lab, benchmarking, tooling and other aspects
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years proven experience as a manager of Program Managers in hardware-software systems or a related complex technical field
- Strong knowledge and experience of integration program lifecycle, processes and technologies. Cloud / AI / HPC knowledge is a plus
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, waterfall)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, including team leading and mentorship
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Self-motivated with a drive to deal with issues head-on and continuously improve
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Data-driven and action oriented
- A “can do attitude”, willing to solve and overcome obstacles
- Further soft skills: demonstrated ability to influence at multiple levels of the organisation, emotional intelligence, hunger for continuous learning
